Building Systems Thinking into Your Org's DEI Strategy: 9 Elements
Dr. Myosha McAfee of The Equitect™ breaks down her method for building systems thinking into your org's diversity, equity, and inclusion approach. Her method consists of 9 elements of systems change that she explains over five episodes.
The first episode explains three critical levers for racial equity and DEI strategists who facilitate transformation: intensity, form, and duration. Listen to this episode if you want to learn how to facilitate organizational transformation, keeping in mind the dangers of leading it.
The second episode builds on the first, adding two more elements of systemic change: the scope and scale of the change. Peep this episode if you outcomes that achieve the greatest good for the highest number of the most adversely impacted.
The third, fourth, and fifth episodes add the last four elements consecutively; episode 3: persona and expertise/discipline leading the change, episode 4: the shape of the structural change, and episode 5: authenticity of the change. Listen to these episodes after the first two in order to curate a nuanced and complex path to equity.
